Work History

Freelance Creative Professional
I am always working. My freelance work is largely rooted in illustration and design for the performing arts community of Chicago. Some freelance work I’ve done has ranged from gig posters to corporate billboards to album covers to editorial illustration.

Designer, Harvey Agency
2017-2018 — Baltimore, Maryland
At Harvey, a small yet powerful brand activation agency, I worked primarily for our flagship client, Covergirl. We aided in their recent total brand refresh as well as the launch of their newest line of products. Common tasks were designing in-store signage, endcaps, towers, and pretty much anything else makeup is available in a store. As small design firms go, I had the opportunity to wear many hats in my time; I worked with video, animation, illustration, copywriting, presentation design, storyboarding, and more.

Art Director + 2D Designer, FreemanXP
2016–2017 — Chicago, Illinois
My position with FreemanXP, my job was similarly multifaceted. FreemanXP is an experience design agency focusing on the branding, advertising, and execution of creative strategy for trade shows, expos, and other large events. My primary position concerned direction, branding, presentation design, advertising design, and environmental design. I also found myself often working with video, audio, and illustration.

Graphic Designer, University of Chicago
2013-2015 — Chicago, Illinois
Design, video, and illustration for the Office of College Admissions at UChicago was my domain. I worked heavily on publication design for prospective students. This included materials such as pamphlets regarding programs within the college and outreach materials to encourage undergraduate application. I also put together a series of animated videos which you can see here.

Creative Manager, RAM Racing
2011-2013 — Chicago, Illinois
This job was wild. RAM Racing is an athletic event organization that tours the country with themed running events. While I started as a Junior Designer for a fledgling company of <15 employees, I quickly progressed into managing the creative department as a whole. During my time there, I assisted in growing the company to employ dozens more team members. My main jobs with RAM were designing emails, print advertising, websites, and pretty much everything else under the sun. I can’t imagine a more perfect “first real job” than this one. The pace was frantic, we traveled weekly, and I don’t think I could actually count the vast variety of responsibilities I had.

Not only did I function as the manager of our design team, I also worked out in the field during our events. Traveling to different cities, I would spend multiple 14-18 hour days setting up expos, building race structures, managing—in some cases—hundreds of volunteers at the finish line of every race where I mixed thousands of cups of gatorade from concentrate. I am not able to fully describe just how much I did at this job within this format.
